blanc.

Once upon a time, there was a teapot. For the past ten years, he had been filled with fresh hot herbal tea every single day. But today, on a warm summer morning, he realised he was empty.

Most of the time, emptiness is associated with negativity, feelings of loss, and isolation. Although these maybe an accurate metaphor for such things, one should realise that being empty doesn't just mean bad. Emptiness can be positive when related to the removal of a heavy load. It could simply mean that something you've kept within have surfaced and vanished. You then feel lighter and more at ease. I think it's also important to understand that emptiness means space. If your empty, you can only be filled. Which in turn can mean that there are room for others.

Yes, a rigid life is easier than a dynamic one. But would you rather have everything mapped and pre-arranged for you or would you travel? However, spontaneity can also result to chaos. So what should we be, exactly? The answer is, whatever you feel like. And what you want today may not be what you want tomorrow and it might not be what you get, I guess what I'm trying to say is, be versatile.

Just as our obsession for control is so apparent, our love for rituals are also strongly present. Although slightly more implicit, it's there. It could be as little as 'the usuals' in our life, like having a mini chocolate feast with a friend after work. Or the restaurant you go to with your best friend for dinner after a long day of work. Either way, we hate for it to be disturbed. Yes you meet at the same place at the same time every week or every two weeks. It's abit boring, but if this practice was to be extended to others or disrupted in any way, does it lose it's value? Does it mean as much as before?

My answer, yes and no, respectively. But let's be realistic, nothing can be left untouched. At the end of the day, the people you meet, those you love, the ones you let go and those you keep is the result of convenience. Even the food you eat, the movies you watch and when you watch them, the jokes you laugh at and the place you go home to - convenience.
One cannot resist to argue, 'It's not solely for convenience.' But by saying this, when things don't go to plan, it hurts more. Then we go through a spiral where we start blowing things off the radar, and we start judging an assumption. So, would you rather live a very meaningful and sentimental life or accept that most of the things we do, words we say, what we create, are just are. And the more you accept this fact, life might be a little less complicated.

Again, let's face it, everyone loves complication. everyone loves drama. That's why there are rarely 'good' news in the news. That's why best books are those that have the best climax. Somehow, we love the feeling of getting through a hard patch. I guess we just want to be satisfied - all the time.

Fact: Man is and will always be insatiable.

In a sense, we are always empty and that's how we like it. It's not necessarily bad nor detrimental. It's just because in that way, there will always be room for all things great and small:)
